- Alphabet: a set of letters or symbols in a fixed order, used to represent the basic sounds of a language; in particular, the set of letters from A to Z.

-Street sign: a sign usually on the side of a street or highway bearing symbols or words of warning or direction to motorists or pedestrians and often having a characteristic shape — compare stop sign.

-Advertisement: a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy.

-Constellation: a group of stars forming a recognizable pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure. Modern astronomers divide the sky into eighty-eight constellations with defined boundaries.

-ASCII symbols: (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is the most common format for text files in computers and on the Internet. In an ASCII file, each alphabetic, numeric, or special character is represented with a 7-bit binary number (a string of seven 0s or 1s). 128 possible characters are defined.

Hierarchy:

-A system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority.

-An arrangement or classification of things according to relative importance or inclusiveness.

Key frame:

They are called "frames" because their position in time is measured inframes on a strip of film. A sequence of key frames defines which movement the spectator will see, whereas the position of the key frames on the film, video or animation defines the timing of the movement.

Playblast:

A low-resolution crude render of computer-generated imagery used in CGI production as a check for character and prop positioning and lighting placement. Curved surfaces are rendered as surfaces with low face count, i.e. faceted

Target observer

1. Explain when it is most likely that a design speaks to the emotion of a target observer.
Clear and easily understood. This means that the design makes sense.
Visually appealing. When the design looks professional.
Enjoyable. Design wants to be seen, words want to be read.
Memorable. Is the design unique ?
Personal. When it shows what it represents 

2. What elements make up effective web design, and how can artists leverage these tools in their work?
First Impressions. The look of a website is key.
How it functions. Simple layouts and navigation helps.
Perceived value. Are website visitors going to want to leave your website shortly?

3. Generally speaking, why is emotionally attractive design relevant to the graphic design artist?

It's the most important piece of ones website.

4. Do you agree with the descriptions given that the emotions match the colors, as they are shown on the website? Why or why not? Yes I do, because colors make people feel a certain way when seen. When you think of a color you have a feeling about that color and the energy it gives off.
